Transplant Rejection: When Foreign Objects Enter Alien Space

As we witness the phenomenal discoveries of the 21st century, one should not overlook the breakthrough of modern medicine and technology. Fifty-years ago people with certain diseases had no hope of healing, whereas today, those threats are largely decreased and even eliminated. One of the major breakthroughs today is a procedure involving the removal of one (bad) organ and the replacement of a good organ.
This is called a transplant. But as we will soon discover, we tend to reject that which is good in exchange for the bad.

One of the saddening occurrences of an organ transplant is the rejection of the very organ that was sacrificed for the health and life of another. There are several types of transplant rejections, some are mild, others severe. While others only take a couple days to reject, others might take anywhere between five (5) and eight (8) years.

In Romans 1:18, 25 we read that the “unrighteousness of men…[who] changed the truth of God, into a lie” (read 1:18-25 for context). Unfortunately, we mimic the reaction of our physical bodies upon receiving a transplant. Spiritually, we are+were dead. We are not just sick, but we are dead. Dead in our sins. Just several verses above, God reveals that He has revealed His truth and glory unto all humanity. He has given us the truth. He has shown us the way. But we have rejected the truth. We have rejected the way. The truth of God is a principle that stands firm even though the value of His truth is one under appraised by our sin.

We are in a time already foreseen by the sun. For this is nothing new. Ever since the beginning, the truth of God was exchanged for a lie. If that which is true and that which is good is forsaken, death will inevitably usurp this life. Seek not your own glory, but the glory of the Father, for in Him the truth is revealed.

Enhancing His Kingdom,
